AVALON & STONE HARBOR, NEW JERSEY
Avalon & Stone Harbor family portraits,
for the summers you'll remember
A NOTE FROM THE PHOTOGRAPHER

One island. Two towns. Some of the finest sand on the East Coast.
Avalon and Stone Harbor share a single seven-mile barrier island, but each town has its own character. Avalon, set higher above the tide than any other beach in New Jersey, has long been a favorite of families looking for wide sand and quiet evenings. Stone Harbor, just to the south, blends a walkable downtown with a bird sanctuary at its southern tip — a backdrop you won't find on any other stretch of the Jersey Shore.
I've been photographing families along these beaches since 1983. I know which streets in Avalon offer the cleanest sightlines at golden hour, where in Stone Harbor the dunes open up for multi-generational groups, and how to make a beach session feel like a relaxed evening with your family — not a stiff photo shoot. Whether you're at a rental in north Avalon, a family home near Stone Harbor's downtown, or visiting from out of state for a reunion, I'll match the right beach to your group and the moment.
